Russia's legendary Bolshoi Ballet returns to Cal Performances under new artistic director Yuri Burlaka, a dynamic talent famous for his extraordinary revivals of 19th-century dance classics. Rarely seen on the West Coast, La Bayadère, a drama of passion, betrayal, and redemption, unfolds against the exotic backdrop of India, culminating in the radiant choreography of the "Kingdom of the Shades". Accompanied by Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, performances feature sumptuous sets and costumes and such Boshoi stars as Svetlana Zakharova, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Maria Alexandrova, Nadezhda Gracheva and Andrei Uvarov.
